Delete your Detour account

You can delete your Detour account and its data at any time.

In the app (fastest)

1. Open Detour and go to the profile tab.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap delete account.
3. Confirm with delete my account.

Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out.

Without the app

If you can't use the app any more, email support@detourapp.eu from the address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my account" and your @username. We'll confirm the request comes from you and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner, and tell you when it's done.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your account:

• your account details: email address, password hash, name, @username, profile photo, city and timezone;
• all your proof photos and captions, including pinned locations. Photos are removed from storage, not just hidden;
• your votes, skip votes, XP, levels and streaks;
• your party memberships, and parties you created that have no other members;
• reports you made, your blocks, your support requests, and your notification settings and devices.

What happens to your parties

A party you own carries on without you. It's handed to the member who has been in it longest, so your friends keep their history. Your own photos are removed from it.

What may be kept

• Backups: copies in our backups disappear as backups are overwritten, within 30 days.
• Moderation records: a record that a moderation action happened can be kept to show how our rules were enforced. Once your account is deleted it's no longer linked to you.
• Legal obligations: if the law requires us to keep specific information, for example because of a legal request or a report to the authorities, we keep only that, for only as long as required.
