Community Guidelines
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Detour is about friends getting out of the house and doing small, fun things together. These guidelines keep it that way. They are part of our Terms of Use, and they apply to everything you post, including photos, captions, names, party names and covers, and to how you treat other people.
Do
- Go out and have fun, at your own pace. "Not today" is always fine.
- Keep it real. Post your own proof of the quest you actually did.
- Vote fairly. "Legit" or "not buying it" should be about the proof, not about settling scores.
- Look after each other. If a quest feels unsafe for someone, skip it together.
Stay safe
- Never risk your safety, or anyone else's, for a quest. No climbing where you shouldn't, no trespassing, no stunts near traffic, water, heights or railways, and no phones while driving or cycling.
- Follow the law and local rules wherever you are.
- If a quest doesn't work where you are, or would mean breaking a rule, skip it. Your party can vote to swap it.
Respect other people
- Ask before you post photos of people. Avoid photos of strangers that could embarrass them or invade their privacy, and never photograph children who aren't yours without permission.
- Don't share anyone's private information, like addresses, phone numbers or documents.
Never allowed
Breaking any of these gets content removed and can get you permanently banned:
- Nudity or sexual content, including suggestive content and sexual "jokes" about real people.
- Anything that sexualises or endangers minors. We have zero tolerance. It is removed, the account is banned, and we report it to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Harassment and bullying: threatening, humiliating, mocking or ganging up on someone, inside or outside your party.
- Hate: attacking or demeaning people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or any similar characteristic.
- Violence and gore: graphic violence, threats, or glorifying violence.
- Self-harm: content that encourages or shows self-harm or suicide. If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or to local emergency services.
- Dangerous or illegal activity: drugs, weapons, vandalism, theft, trespassing, dangerous stunts, or encouraging others to do any of it.
- Spam, scams and fakes: advertising, scams, impersonating someone, or fake accounts.
- Content you don't have the right to share, such as someone else's photos.
If something's wrong
- Report it. Tap a photo's menu, or a member on the party page, and choose report. Reports go to the Detour team, not your party, and nobody is told who reported.
- Block someone. On the party page, tap the person and choose block. You'll stop seeing their photos and getting notified about them. They aren't told.
- Leave the party from the party's settings, or, if you own it, remove a member and rotate the invite code.
- Contact us in the app under profile → help & support, or at support@detourapp.eu.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (112 in the EU) first.
How we enforce these guidelines
- We review reports and act on objectionable content within 24 hours.
- When several people report the same photo, it's hidden from the party automatically until we've reviewed it.
- Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, warn you, suspend your account for a time, or ban it permanently. Serious violations, especially anything involving minors, lead to an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to the authorities.
- If we act on your content or account, we'll usually tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, reply through help & support.
